I'm
connected...what happens next?
Once you have
made a connection using Internet Connect , you can use Internet applications such as web browsers
(ie. Safari, Internet Explorer , Netscape ), E-mail clients (ie. Eudora , Outlook Express, MS Entourage ), FTP clients (ie Fetch ) and Telnet clients (ie Terminal ).
It is important
to note that the internet is more of a concept, than it is a thing.
There are a variety of sevices one can use with the internet so its
important to note that they are seperate. Most popular of all internet
services would be the web (WWW) and email.
When you launch
the browser you should see the ``Start Page'' (or Home Page). You can
set this to whatever you want, but the method varies. If you'd like
to set something else as your start page but aren't sure how, we'd be
happy to help.
If you know
the address of a website you want to look at, just type in the web address
in the Address (or Location) field on your browser and hit return. If
you want to search for anything, the browser has a ``search'' option
on it that when chosen takes you to a few standard search engines. Visit
our the Links section on our webpage for some more search engine sites
and other areas of interest.
If you want
to use email, you need to configure your email software for your Avalon
account. Check out our webpage (www.avalon.net) and go to the Support
section. Here you will find instructions for setting up email for the
several different email programs we support. We hope you enjoy the internet!
