13. Now just hit the "Connect" button to connect to Avalon. Once a connection has been established, you can run your web browser(Netscape), email software, etc. Just hit "Disconnect" once you're finished.

OS8.0 and higher usually comes with some version of Internet Explorer (IE) as a browser. Older operating systems have Netscape Navigator . Once connected to Avalon, you can use this version of IE or (Netscape) as your regular browser or use it to download a newer version IE OR Netscape. All versions of web browsers can be found on our webpage (www.avalon.net) under the Software section.

Your browser is probably located in a folder labeled "Internet" or something similar. If you can't find a browser you can user the Finder to locate it. To user the Finder click on the computer icon in the top right of your screen and select Finder. Next, Choose Find under the File menu or type openapple f.

Make sure you are searching on your main hard drive and enter the file or program you are looking for in the right text field. (In this case type either "Netscape" or "Internet Explorer") A window should appear showing the files found and where they are located underneath.

It is important to note that the internet is more of a concept, than it is a thing. There are a variety of sevices one can use with the internet so its important to note that they are seperate. Most popular of all internet services would be the web (WWW) and email.

When you launch the browser you should see the ``Start Page'' (or Home Page). You can set this to whatever you want, but the method varies. If you'd like to set something else as your start page but aren't sure how, we'd be happy to help.

If you know the address of a website you want to look at, just type in the web address in the Address (or Location) field on your browser and hit return. If you want to search for anything, the browser has a ``search'' option on it that when chosen takes you to a few standard search engines. Visit our the Links section on our webpage for some more search engine sites and other areas of interest.

If you want to use email, you need to configure your email software for your Avalon account. Check out our webpage (www.avalon.net) and go to the Support section. Here you will find instructions for setting up email for the several different email programs we support. We hope you enjoy the internet!
